THE KRA FALLEN

Jon Thomas Grubbs
Jon FU Grubbs or Grubbsie
6/28/76 - 2/14/10

'KrA is a team full of real people. People that live real lives. If you needed an example of the type of person that is a member of KrA, you’d have to look no further than Grubbs, the team “everyman” according to most opinions. A family man. Not the oldest or the youngest. Not the loudest or the quietest. Off nights and great nights. Hobbies and distractions outside gaming. Intolerant of jerks but full of shenanigans. Dish it out and take it. Played to win and accepted loss graciously. Liked the open rooms and loved gaming with the team. But that didn’t fully define him.

Like a lot of us, he had it rough coming up. He did the best he could to overcome that and make things work his family and himself. His sense of humor hid most of this and made him a very enjoyable guy to game with. An avid fisherman, he’d hit his “honey hole” and regularly come back with a five-pounder. ;) Nobody could grill some beef like Grubbs. He took on the clan tag “BBQ” just so everyone would know where his focus was. He’d grill while playing, giving us a step-by-step account of how things were progressing, and making us all hungry.

Sometimes real life interfered with Grubbs being able to game with us. Grubbs kept in touch with us through his closest friends and stayed in our thoughts. And even after his longest absences, he was welcomed back enthusiastically by all.

His “panhandle twang” still resonates through our minds with echoes of good jokes and well-placed jabs. Remembering some of his unorthodox play is another thing that will stay with us. Grubbs was one of those people that would find spots and use weapons that would force the rest of us to change up our game and adapt, thereby making us a more versatile team. He was invaluable and irreplaceable part of KrA.

Grubbs left behind family and friends, most notably, his beloved wife, Margaret. A fine woman that stood behind her husband giving him time to indulge in his hobbies. All of us here know what that means to a true gamer. While her reasons are unknown to us, we can say that we really appreciate her sharing Grubbs with us. Then there’s 5-year old Jon Keenan, Grubbs’ energetic and bright son. Jon Keenan made his presence known on many a night while we gamed with Grubbs. The occasional “Quit it, Boy” over our headsets let us know that Grubbs was not only entertaining us but also keeping his son out of his mom’s hair for a few minutes. Finally there’s Little Alivia, who just turned a year old early December. Energetic and bright just like her brother, we’ve heard her voice over Live a few times and listened to Grubbs try to keep her comfortable. Will these young children one day follow their father’s footsteps and become gamers? Hopefully, if they do, they’ll be the just like their Dad, fitting right in with the rest.

Grubbs also left behind a team that will keep him in their hearts and minds. The current roster is as follows: A BOM-akaSHOTgun72-baddevil-CapitL PuNshMnt-DAKOTA DAWGG-Deadly Teknique-DeftByrdMan 40-DIESEL SMOKE 6L-Drazhar-Goodi77-Grindlle-Guzzy 0-holdem-HORHAY123-Iggy01-J0YSTICK-Jarhed1776-JRMppi-ll COMET ll-MamiRican1970-mastergolfer-MeatPants-MORINZO-Nuxxs-o Scoot o-Ooopy-Pat MaWhat-Per4orm-RoQeZe-Sewer-SpaceAce44-StillSLO GUN-Taz1995-The Team Idiot-THE CENTERFOLD-TisButAScratch-Twofacedliars-WoundingCamel-x Hold0ut x-xxxtryconxxx-YMRiver
